Some says link exchange will do more harm than good to your blog and there are some truths to this. Link exchange used to be a great way to increase your Page Rank and gain a better position in Google. Now, this method has become less effective as it will no longer help you with site popularity but will still gain targeted visitors to your site.

Let me first tell you why link exchange will no longer help you increase website popularity before we go on building blog traffic through exchanging links the right way.

Link exchange as a method of promotion has gone out of favor. Many webmaster indulge in what I call spam indexing. These cheaters are targeting search engines that rely heavily on popularity and links. Some may buy links to raise popularity. Others engaged in exchanging links with anybody and everybody just to gain popularity. There are even dozen of small websites purposely made to link the main one just to give false view of website popularity.

While link exchange will no longer help you increase popularity, it retain it’s effectiveness to get targeted blog traffic. However there are a few points to remember.

1. Do link exchange with blogs and websites whose general theme are similar or complimentary to your blog.

2. Do link exchange only with blogs and websites you think will be valuable to your visitors. This is important for your own business reputation and Page Rank with Google.

3. Do not link exchange with blogs or website that has huge collections of links from anywhere and everywhere. These websites will not bring you any traffic and can actually get your blog banned by Google.

As you can see link exchanges will still do well to your blog. You just need to adapt to get the best possible use out of them. They will not affect your popularity much but as you can see might affect your Page Rank due to the type of websites you are partnering with. With these few points you can still gain targeted traffic and sales by using this method of promotion wisely.

If you are really serious of building blog traffics for weeks, months or even years without spending a dime on advertising, why don’t you get a copy of Turn Words Into Traffic by Jim and Dallas Edward. I higly recommend this ebook.

Some of the questions I found worth sharing here are:

Why are links important?
Links are important because they help Internet users find interesting, informative, and useful content, either on the site itself or at other Internet locations. Inbound links have special value to the search engines, including Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, and Ask Jeeves, as the number, duration of linking time, and quality are part of the search engine algorithms. As a general rule, the more incoming links that a Web page and website receive, the better the site will rank in the search engines.

Do all links have equal value to the search engines?
While quantity of links is important, quality is even more important. Some inbound links are simply given more value than others by the search engine algorithms. Links from pages deemed to be more relevant, in terms of topic and theme, are given more weight. Also given more value are links that are labeled with more keyword rich anchor text, links from pages with higher Google PageRank, and links that originate within content pages rather than from the ubiquitous “links pages.” There is even some evidence that linking out to other Web pages provides some benefit to the link sending page.

Are links from blogs helpful?
Inbound links from blogs are very powerful. Because blog writers, called bloggers, are very generous linkers, they are very likely to link naturally to interesting and informative content. The blog will be highly theme relevant to your site as bloggers tend to stay within their main areas of interest. If the link is placed within a blog post or article, powerful link anchor text might also be included. Blogs also contain a links list, referred to as a blogroll, and those links are usually placed on the blog’s high PageRank home page.

Are blog comment links good for search engine rankings?
Blog comment links are now treated in much the same way as guest book links. Google is even suggesting a robots.txt coding to prevent any link popularity or PageRank transfer from blog comments to prevent spamming. It’s important to note that blog comments are very different from blog links themselves. The two link types should not be confused, as they are similar to a website’s relationship to its guest book.

Who are the best link exchange partners for a site?
The best link exchange partners are other sites sharing a similar or complementary theme and topics to your site. Avoid sites that have no theme or topic relevance to your own site because they will provide little in the way of link popularity or inbound traffic.

You may be thinking that the above is the foolish thing to do but I am here telling you that this is at par with other effective blog traffic strategies.

If you blog about what your competitors are saying and if you place their links within your post then you are doing brilliant service to your readers. Readers will lover your blog more. It appears to them that your blog has more authority in the industry your blog belong.

The more you send people away to more valuable resources, the more valuable you become to your target audience and the more your readers will stick with you. Also, blogging about other bloggers position yourself to get your blog cited by them at some point. Thus, will increase your traffic coming from them.

The Free Google Adsense Program

Google Adsense is a monetization revolution for small content publisher. It allows small web content providers such as bloggers to earn revenue from advertising on their web sites and blogs. When a visitor click on the on the Google ads, Google makes a small profit from the advertiser, and in turn, pays a percentage of that profit to content publisher.

Such click can translate into pennies or dollars a day for a web publisher. Since it’s launch dated year 2003, the Google Adsense program has revolutionized the web publishing, turning blogs and personal websites into a money making machine.

Google makes it easy for everyone to join. If you are a web publisher or a blogger then simple complete the online Adsense form. Once your application is approve and have added the google adsense script to your site or blog then google will automatically place the ads on the site or blog similar to those that appear next to search google search results.

How to Avoid Getting Rejected by the Adsense Program

Beware that while Google AdSense is free for anybody to join, Google will reject sites and blogs devoted to pornography, drug, or gambling. They will also reject personal pages, sites and blogs with other context-targeted ads, profanity, or hate of any sort, and those engage or giving incentives for clicking on the keywords. It’s good to read Google’s Program Policies before you apply.

You should have no problem signing up with Google Adsense if you meet all these criteria. You only need to apply once, no matter how many website you have. Once you’re accepted, you can add Google Adsense ads to as many pages as you want on those website.

Now That You Have Been Accepted Into Adsense, What’s Next?

Having added Google Adsense ads onto your pages, it’s time to have resources that will lead you to maximize your success using Google Adsense. While the internet offer many available resources, the three that I’ve used successful for my own site are:

1. Adsense Videos If you want to be taken by the hand by a Google Adsense guru and shown, step by step, what you need to do to make Adense work best for you, then these videos from Michael Cheney are very highly recommended. Cheney proved that he really know his stuff by achieving the top spot in the ClickBank Google Adsense product ratings and you don’t get there without high quality products and services.

2. Adsense Gold This product is referred to all over the internet as one of the best solutions to increase your AdSense earnings AdSense Gold is an advanced tracking system for Google’s Adsense program. This script will show you what kind of content is generating the clicks, which ad formats and color combinations work best & which search engines and/or keywords to optimize for. You can definitely use the information to make more money.

One way inbound links are more desirable that reciprocal links. Both will help you gain targeted visitors to your blog but unlike reciprocal links, one way inbound links will increase your blog popularity through search engine ranking and in effect will bring you more traffic. So get one way inbound links.

Now, whilst it sounds easy in principle to get inbound links, actually getting them in practice can take some effort. And this effort can take some considerable time to pay off.

What are the benefits of getting one way inbound links?

Search engine robots work by following links between websites and blogs. The more inbound links your blog has, the more often robots will visit your blog. Also, search engines assume that if lots of websites link to your blog it must be high quality. Many search engines count links to your blog as “votes” for you. Page Rank is Google’s system of counting links.

The general rule is that the more inbound links you can get, the better. Getting more links should almost certainly be near the top of your priority list when optimizing your blog.
But how do you get them?

There are many ways to get one way inbound link but the best way is simply to create blog posts which other webmasters will want to link to. These are known as natural links. Natural links have many advantages:

• Natural links will come to you without much effort except creating the content in the first place. You don’t have to work to acquire them.

• The links will be diverse in nature as you will gain different anchor text.

• They are free and you don’t have to reciprocate the link.

• The referring pages tend to be similarly themed. This is likely to become more important in the future.

If you are lucky you will attract enough natural links to give your blog a boost. However, most blogs need to make a lot of efforts to acquire inbound links.

Creating an effective online presence begins with quality content. After you put your heart and soul everyday into your works online, you might start to wonder when traffic will start rolling into your blog.

It’s no secret that having quality one way inbound links is the first step in an effective online marketing campaign.

One way inbound links from high PR blogs are like treasure. Every blogger wants them because they deliver high blog traffic and earn high search engine recognition.

The biggest question now is how to you get these precious one way inbound links? An even harder question is how to we get inbound links from blogs with a high page rank?

Surprisingly, the answer to this hard question is easy. Just post comments on high page rank blogs. The kind and quality of comment that are likely be acceptable to the blog’s moderator.

So, you can now have your one way inbound links from high page ranking blogs. Sure, some search engine spiders don’t follow those links if the blogging software adds a rel=nofollow tag, but the spiders at 2 of the big 3 search engines reportedly ignore that tag.

Now, what’s the plan?

This may sounds a lot of work, but yes, you need to find relevant high page ranking blogs. You ask, how?

Just do a search through Google or Yahoo or MSN by typing in ‘keyword + blog’, visit the blogs, note their PR and see if they accept comments. Some blogs don’t accept comments. They’re no good for our purposes.

So, what are you waiting for? Start building one way inbound links from high PR blogs NOW!

One more thing. If you are serious on building traffic to your blog then why don’t you read the ebook entitled Turn Words Into Traffic by by Jim and Dallas Edward. This ebook will surely helps you drive more visitors to your website without spending a fortune on advertising, no matter what product or service you do

You want more blog traffic? Why don’t you try pinging? Yes, you can increase blog traffic by pinging. But first, what is pinging?

Pinging is an act of sending a series of packets from one computer over a network or the Internet to a specific computer in order to generate a response from that computer. The other computer responds with an acknowledgment that it received the packets. Ping was created to verify whether a specific computer on a network or the Internet exists, and is connected.

Pinging and Blog Traffic

Certain Web sites want to know when you post something new to your blog so they can promote it to the world. By pinging these Web sites you can get the word out easily. This allows you to build blog traffic.

Most blogging software will ping to at least one of these Web sites automatically. However, you can easily promote your new post to dozens more. The good thing about this, you don’t have to visit their site each time you want to promote your blog.

There are a number of services designed specifically for tracking and connecting blogs. By sending a small ping to each service you let them know you’ve updated your blog so they can come check you out.

One way to maximize your pinging is by using a service called Ping-o-Matic. By pinging the Ping-o-Matic service you automatically send update notifications out to as many as 22 sites. Be careful not to ping too often though; many ping services will block you if your pings become over zealous.

Another Good Thing About Pingging

Since pinging alerts the major blog tracking sites it then helps search engines crawl and reindex your new content much quicker. This also helps your search engine positioning which is even better for your business.

You should ping your blog every time you write new content and update your blog. This way others know immediately that your blog has been updated.

Every serious blogger publishes an RSS feed of his posts and readers aggregate all their favorites blogs feeds in an aggregator. When you publish your RSS feed, your viewers will thank you, and there will be more of them, because it allows them to see your site without going out of their way to visit.

While this seems bad at first glance, it actually improves your blog’s visibility; by making it easier for your users to keep up with your site – allowing them to see it the way they want to – it’s more likely that they’ll know when something that interests them is available on your site.

For example, imagine your blog announces a new product or feature every week or two. Without a feed, your viewers have to remember to come to your blog and see if they find anything new – if they have time. If you provide a feed for them, they can point their aggregator or other software at it, and it will give them a link and a description of developments at your blog almost as soon as they happen.

By providing a feed, you are in front of them constantly, improving the chances that they’ll click through to a post that catches their eye and visit your blog.

Here, this blog now provide a feed for which anybody can subscribe. There are various formats or protocols of feed available such as RSS and Atom. However, my feeds are readable to any format the subscriber is using because of SmartFeed service by FeedBurner. So what is FeedBurner?

FeedBurner

FeedBurner is a service that takes a normal, everyday RSS or Atom feed of any kind and turns (burns) it into a FeedBurner feed that you can then distribute to readers for use in any RSS reader. The company currently hosts more than 470,000 combined RSS and Atom feeds for over 280,000 content publishers and delivered feeds to 19 million subscribers.

Another big reason for using FeedBurner, however, is that it can automatically add Google Adsense ads to your feeds, allowing you to easily generate revenue if you have a large enough audience. For more information, come and visit Feedburner.

When you aim to turn your blog into money making machine, maybe or just maybe 100 directory submission will not be enough. For this blog, I aimed for 1000 directory submission done before the year ends.

I will post here names and links of the directories to which this blog is submitted and keep this entry updated until I reach 1000 submission. Later, after some time, in my future post, I may be able to tell you which directories will bring good blog traffic. So keep visiting this post.
